Diversified Technology, Inc. Begins Shipping High Performance AdvancedTCA® Blade ATC5231 - Dual Processor engine for DTI's Targa Line of AdvancedTCA Platforms Embedded Systems Conference / San Francisco, CA - March 7, 2005 - Diversified Technology, Inc. announced today at ESC that their ATC5231 Dual Processor AdvancedTCA Blade has begun full scale shipments to its customers. The ATC5231 Processor Blade is based on the Intel® E7520 Chipset and utilizes dual Low Voltage Intel® Xeon® processors with an 800MHz System Bus. The board is compliant with the PICMG® ATCA 3.0 specification and ATCA 3.1 sub-specifications. "DTI's investment in modular computing infrastructure via its Targa platforms has been broadened by the high performing ATC5231 processing node," stated Joe McDevitt, DTI's AdvancedTCA program manager. "This dual Intel® Xeon® processor-based blade continues DTI's legacy of providing symmetrical multiprocessing based on Intel architecture for network equipment vendors to meet high density computing requirements." |

About
the ATC5231 The blade was designed around the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group's (PICMG®) new 3.0 specification (AdvancedTCA®), which is an open embedded standard for new hardware platforms in "carrier-grade" networks. DTI's ATC5231 is equipped with a dual low voltage 2.8GHz Intel Xeon processor and features a high I/O bandwidth Intel E7520 server-class chipset with 800MHz front side bus and support for up to 16GB of memory. Located on-board are two 10/100/1000Mbits/sec auto-negotiating Ethernet controllers for the base interface, two additional 1000Mbits/sec Base-BX Ethernet ports for the fabric interface via the Intels 82546GB, 2 Fibre Channel PI channels and one 64-bit/66MHz PMC site for user configuration, and other peripherals designed high performance Telco needs. The board fully supports the AdvancedTCA concept of separate data and control plane traffic when paired with DTI's ATS1460 in DTI's Targa Series Chassis. The ATC5231 is compliant with ATCA 3.1 specification via Option 4, including four backplane Ethernet connections and two fibre channel connections. The ATC5231 utilizes an AMI® Embedded BIOS with boot from 2.5 in ATA or Fibre Channel HD, CD-ROM, USB or the network. Console redirection, PnP, and PCI auto configuration are also supported. A variety of operating systems will be supported including MontaVista Linux® Carrier Grade Edition (CGE) and Solaris 10. The ATC5231 can optionally use Small Form Factor (SFF) Fibre Channel drives or standard 2.5in IDE laptop drive. The SFF Fibre channel drives offer outstanding MTBFs of 1,400,000 hrs (24/7 operation) compared to average laptop hard drives having only a 150,000 hours (less than 24/7 operation). |
